What makes your house, your Home? The emotional connotation here emphasizes your mentality. 
The blueprint and then the construction resulting in a habitation is " The House" everybody wishes for in life. "Shelter" is one of the basic necessities of life for a human being...whereas, a home is where you create an emotional and personal memoir with the person or pet you live with. These extraordinary moments created in the place you live makes it your home. 
If arranging new furniture, kitchen items etc is said to make a "Home"...you'll never stop feeling that anything is enough, as you tend to keep getting new products and items often with the changing trends which will cause mental fatigue while you try to find a "home"(emotional and personal memoirs) in those expenditures. 
Forcing someone to get what you want will never give happiness or that homeliness. It just makes you feel cold and lonely.
