Cartography is the science and art of making  maps.Maps are a source of information for navigation and finding information about areas.  These days everyone use GPS and locate the place where they want to go in their mobile devices. Oracle Reports Builder is a tool used for report processing. You can create simple data reports using this tool. I found the installation of this tool a little tedious. Both design time and runtime components have to be installed. If they both are not installed you won't be able to run and test the reports. After the installation of the Oracle Developer Suite, go to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition and start the database. When you open reports builder, there are three options to build a report: using the report wizard, build a new report manually and open an existing report. It was a little surprising for me to know that F1 is going green this season. I was introduced to this sport in high school and now I keep getting updates from my husband time and again. What was a rumor in 2008 about F1 going green has turned out to be a reality this year in 2014. The governing body FIA(International Automobile Federation) have made a lot of changes to the sport by  stopping engine development and encouraging Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems(KERS) .New rules and new goals for the sport! Having worked on projects based on Green computing, Green networking and profiling power usage to reduce carbon footprint, my area of interest for specialisation will be "Energy and Sustainability". Since there is a constant growth and coverage in world-wide network communications, a constant growth in energy consumption of the networks can be observed. Green networking/Green computing is an innovative new approach to make environmental changes in our daily lives. The green initiatives adapted in companies are power saving policies, using cloud based services and applications, using new teleconferencing tools, server virtualisation and many more. The Green movement which has begun since the early 1990s is implemented in companies such as IBM, Intel, Google, NetApp, Siemens, Infosys and so on. On 5th March 2011, 30 of us went to the SPARK program conducted by Infosys from our college ISiM. SPARK is an initiative for students   to enlighten students and prospective employees of the company.   We were late by an hour and we learnt about time management .With us were a college from Satara and a college from Kannur. In the session we learnt about the history of Infosys which was inspirational.   In between they screened videos titled as "Leader Speak"  from leaders like N.R.Narayan Murthy and Nandan Nilekani.  After a short tea break we re-entered the hall to know more about Finacle. The Finacle song in the end entertained us.Shortly we were accompanied by yet another college CMRIT who joined us as latecomers.
